- Close heavy applications and keep this tab visible.

Explication technique
requestAnimationFrame callbacks are timestamped by the browser. The median interval between callbacks is converted to an estimated refresh rate. This measures the browser compositor cadence, which usually matches the display but can be affected by power saving, background tabs, and variable-refresh displays.
A high-refresh display may be capped by the operating system, cable, browser, or a game mode. Frame pacing matters as much as the headline rate, so the spread and percentiles are shown alongside the average.

Result is exactly 60 Hz on a faster display
Check the operating-system refresh-rate setting and browser hardware acceleration. Some browsers cap animation callbacks.
Measurements are erratic
Close background tasks, disable battery saver, and keep the pointer still.
Value changes every run
Variable refresh rate and compositor scheduling can produce different estimates. Use several runs.
No result
Keep the tab visible. Background tabs intentionally throttle animation callbacks.
