Last updated: 1 March 2026. Device Check aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for its interface and explanatory content.
What we have implemented
- Semantic landmarks, one main heading per page, and a logical heading hierarchy.
- Keyboard-operable navigation, dropdown menus, filter controls and FAQ accordions.
- Visible focus indicators and a skip link to the main content.
- Status regions with live announcements for test progress and errors.
- Text and interface contrast designed to remain readable in dark and light themes.
- Support for reduced-motion preferences and browser zoom.
- Right-to-left layout support for Arabic and Urdu.
- Labels for controls and descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and icons.
- No colour-only indication of success or failure: status text and shape are also used.
Known limitations
- Some tests depend on hardware APIs that a browser may not expose. When a test is unavailable, the page explains the limitation in text.
- Canvas-based visualizations (waveforms, touch grids, gamepad sticks) have adjacent numeric or textual status so the result is not exclusively visual.
- Optional third-party map content is outside our control and may not fully meet the same standard.
- Detailed guidance and FAQs fall back to English when a translation has not yet been reviewed. Interface labels and tool names are translated.
- Older browsers may not support newer accessibility features or the test APIs themselves.
