Device Capability Checker

Check which device capabilities your browser exposes, including media, input, graphics, storage, and sensors.

Privacy: Capability checks are local and do not request camera, microphone, or location access.

Test interface

Your browser may ask for permission after you press Start.
Press Start to begin.
Run capability check—
Capability checks show whether the browser exposes an API, not whether you have granted permission or whether the hardware works. Some APIs are limited to HTTPS or specific browsers.

How to use this tool

  1. Click Run capability check.
  2. Review the grouped results for supported and unavailable features.
  3. Use the notes to understand why a feature may be missing.
  4. Copy the summary if you are troubleshooting with support.

Technical explanation

The checker tests for API presence and, where safe, creates a minimal object or worker to confirm usability. It deliberately avoids triggering permission prompts.

API presence is not proof of hardware quality. A browser can expose a capability that is disabled by policy, missing a physical device, or limited by the current secure-context state.

Troubleshooting

A supported device shows missing features

Check the browser version, secure-context status, and enterprise policies.

Media features look unavailable

Media APIs may require HTTPS and user permission before a device is exposed.

Storage quota looks low

Private browsing and storage pressure can reduce the reported quota.

Results differ between browsers

Browsers implement different subsets of web APIs.
