QR Code Scanner

Scan a QR code with your camera or decode an uploaded image. Links are shown for review and are never opened automatically.

Privacy: Camera frames and uploaded images are decoded locally. Decoded text is not sent to a server, and links require your explicit confirmation.

Technical explanation

The scanner uses the browser BarcodeDetector API when available and falls back to a bundled QR decoding library for uploaded images. Camera frames are processed in the page and never transmitted.

QR decoding is not a guarantee of safety. A QR code can hide a shortened or deceptive URL. Always inspect the hostname and be cautious with requests for passwords or payments.

Troubleshooting

Camera does not detect the code

Improve lighting, hold the camera steady, and fill more of the frame with the code. Avoid reflections and extreme angles.

Uploaded image is not decoded

Use a sharp, high-contrast image and crop out unrelated content. Very large images may be downscaled by the decoder.

Link preview is missing

Only http and https URLs are recognized as links. Other text is shown as plain content.

BarcodeDetector is unsupported

The camera scanner needs a browser with BarcodeDetector or a compatible fallback. Image upload remains available where the fallback decoder is supported.
