Double Click Test

Measure the interval between your clicks and check whether your mouse or settings register reliable double-clicks.

Privacy: Click timing is measured locally in this tab. No input data is stored or uploaded.

Browser and operating-system double-click settings also apply. A failing mouse switch can cause missed or chattering clicks, but this test cannot prove a hardware fault.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a double-click threshold or keep the default.
  2. Click the test pad twice in quick succession.
  3. Read the measured interval and whether the pair counted as a double-click.
  4. Use Reset to clear the history and try a few more pairs.

Technical explanation

The page records performance.now() timestamps for pointer events on the test pad. The interval between the two most recent clicks is compared with the browser double-click threshold you select.

Operating systems and browsers also apply their own double-click speed setting. A pair that fails here may still work in another application, and vice versa. This is a timing observation, not a switch-debounce measurement.

Troubleshooting

Double-click is not detected

Increase the threshold or slow down slightly. Also check the operating-system double-click speed.

A single click registers twice

This can indicate switch chatter or a very sensitive setting. Test with another mouse to isolate the cause.

Intervals vary a lot

Hand timing is naturally variable. Compare averages over several attempts rather than a single pair.

Touch input behaves differently

Touch taps have different timing and gesture handling from mouse clicks, so results are not directly comparable.
