This test reports touch positions and coverage. It cannot calibrate the digitiser or prove that every pixel responds; use a full-screen drawing app for a detailed dead-zone check.

How to use this tool

  1. Touch the test surface with one finger and confirm a point appears.
  2. Add more fingers and watch the simultaneous contact count.
  3. Drag across the grid to look for regions that do not respond.
  4. Use Clear to reset the canvas and test another area.

Technical explanation

Pointer Events and Touch Events expose contact identifiers and coordinates. The page tracks active pointers, removes them on release, and records coverage on a grid.

Browser event failures and hardware defects can look similar. A region that never registers may be a hardware issue, a browser gesture conflict, a screen protector, or a software limitation. This test cannot prove a hardware defect.

Troubleshooting

No touch points appear

Use a touchscreen device. Some laptops require the touchscreen to be enabled in the operating system.

Only one point is tracked

Check whether the browser or device limits multitouch. Try a different browser.

A region does not respond

Clean the screen, remove thick screen protectors, and test with another app. If multiple apps fail, the hardware may be faulty.

The page scrolls while testing

Touch gestures may compete with scrolling. Keep your gesture inside the test surface and use the dedicated controls.
