Mouse Polling Rate Test
Estimate how many pointer events your mouse delivers per second while you move it across the test pad.
Test interface
Your browser may ask for permission after you press Start.Move the pointer continuously inside this area
How to use this tool
- Click Start measurement.
- Move the mouse continuously inside the test pad for a few seconds.
- Read the event rate, estimated polling cadence, and interval spread.
- Click Stop and repeat if the result varies.

Technical explanation
Browsers expose pointermove events, not raw USB reports. The page counts events over a fixed window and estimates events per second. Browsers coalesce, throttle, and align pointer events with the display refresh, so the result is a lower-bound estimate rather than the hardware polling rate.
A 1000 Hz mouse commonly appears much lower in a browser. Use the vendor utility for a hardware-level reading. This page is useful for spotting obvious differences between devices and for checking that movement events arrive consistently.
Troubleshooting
The estimate is far below the mouse specification
Browser event coalescing and the display refresh rate limit the observed rate. This is expected and is not necessarily a fault.
No events are counted
Move the pointer inside the pad while the measurement is running. Some remote-desktop sessions throttle pointer events.
The value changes every run
Movement speed, system load, and display rate affect the count. Use several runs and compare averages.
Wireless mouse shows unstable results
Low battery, interference, and USB polling can reduce event delivery. Try a different port or a wired connection.
