Upload Speed Test

Measure upload throughput by sending a generated payload to this website and review the live and final rate.

Privacy: The payload is random test data. The server counts and discards it; nothing is stored or inspected.

The server counts and discards the random payload. Upload speed is often lower than download speed on consumer connections, and proxies can affect the result.

How to use this tool

  1. Pick a payload size and confirm you are comfortable using that much upload data.
  2. Click Start upload test and keep the tab open.
  3. Watch the progress bar and live Mbps estimate while the data is sent.
  4. Read the final average, then reset or repeat the test.

Technical explanation

The page creates a random binary buffer, posts it to a same-origin endpoint, and measures the time until the response is received. Upload throughput is the payload size in bits divided by that elapsed time.

Because the response is small, the measurement mostly reflects the request upload time, but server processing and the return trip are included. Browser connection limits, Wi-Fi, and the server upload policy all affect the result. This is not a calibrated line-rate measurement.

Troubleshooting

The upload fails with a 413 error

The payload exceeds the server limit. Choose a smaller size or raise the limit in the speed test endpoint configuration.

Speed is much lower than download

Many consumer connections have slower upload. Server-side limits can also reduce the result.

Progress stalls near the end

The browser may be waiting for the server response. A slow server or proxy can add delay after the bytes are sent.

Corporate network blocks the request

Proxies and firewalls may restrict POST bodies. Try another network if permitted.
